This was a lovely read; calm, peaceful, easy and curiously thought provoking. There were times I truly felt like it was not a work of fiction, but actually written by a Chinese woman. I found the later years of the letters by Kwei Li very Anglicized and less believable than the letters and thoughts of the character's younger self. That being said, I would not have missed reading this book. It was recommended by one of my friends who also owns a Kindle.My favorite thing about it, is I could pick it up and put it down without feeling as though I would lose interest or have to read back a few pages to catch up. It was a gentle read and one without too much intensity and drama, making it appealing to read. Truly a book I think I will read again.
